“Centennial traveling exhibit”

Job, A.G. (Winter, 1990). “Centennial traveling exhibit”, New Jersey Libraries, v24n1, p. 12-13.

This article gives an overview of the planning of this exhibit. The exhibit was planned to be a part of the centennial celebration for the state of New Jersey Libraries. The author participated in the original creation of the exhibit, where the size, extent, and content of the exhibit was determined. The design and construction was contracted to an art department of a local college. The New Jersey Libraries Association is central to the exhibit, and the art students were charged with creating illustrations regarding the services offered by the libraries and the history of the libraries.

A lot went into the process of logistically planning the tour. The libraries were selected and arrangements were made for transport. The libraries were given evaluation forms to give to the visitors, and press releases were written for the libraries to use.

This exhibit gave great opportunities to the public, as well as the students, instructors and librarians involved in the planning.
