Using my better judgement

Weitz, J. (2004). Cataloger’s judgement: Music cataloging questions and answers from the Music OCLC Users Group Newsletter. Libraries Unlimited: Westport, Conn.

I was continually encountering perplexing and confounding situations that defied the cold logic of AACR2: multiple dates that seemed impossible to reconcile, variant titles that contradicted each other, and bizarre terms like ‘duophonic.’

-Stephen Wright, foreward

This book is a compilation (indexed and categorized, of course) of the Questions and Answers column of the MOUG Newsletter, done by Jay Weitz. Though the column still exists and continues to be updated, this edition puts a large portion of the questions and their answers into one place.

Both informative and entertaining, the entries answer a variety of questions with varying degrees of difficulty, while referring to AACR2r, LCRIs, MARC formats, and OCLC bibliographic formats and standards.

Now that I have been working with the LAMC items, I am in the swing of things. Sue continues to work with me and give me guidance and proper instruction on the creation of these records, and that is how it will remain until the end of the internship. I will have very little to report!
